Hailing from the piney hills of northern Louisiana, Alison has been creating art since she was a free-roaming nature child. Being raised close to the wilderness gave endless materials for inspiration. From homemade clay in the creeks to fresh charcoal from the bonfire, there were always tools to create.

Alison brought that creative spirit to Nola in 2009 to attend UNO’s film program. While there, she fell in love with the city and the love only grew stronger when she was forced to leave, like so many others, due to Hurricane Katrina.

After a long respite, she is back home again and celebrating her mix of rural and urban culture. She draws inspiration from color and light, and the organic rigidness that is all around us. She lets her admiration of architecture and sacred geometry come through her lines and shapes.

She’s left behind the red clay in the woods, and now primarily uses paints on canvas. She likes to mix textures and layers to create depth. Recently, she has taken on costume construction for her partner, a local burlesque performer, whom she thanks for pushing her back into creating and dreaming like a child again.
